Did the base version for a clan-mate. Might as well post it here

This is not a guide, this is mostly for reference and a few tips

FAQ: What's Healing and what's Passive Healing?
Healing: Affects the heals you do

Stats:

Base Stats:

There are 5 base stats, I'm not going to tell you EVERYTHING that they do because this post is already cluttered and I'm laaaaaaaaaazy, just the ones that matter and sort of matter

STR - stat for increasing your parry rate if you want to go with a parry build, which I don't recommend doing
AGI - stat for increasing your cast speed, which lets you repeat skills sooner, and dodge, which I also don't recommend going for
WIS - stat for increasing damage for hybrids and crit healing (20%WIS->MCRIT)
SPR - stat for healing. This is your main stat
LUK - stat for increasing m-crit chance

Stuff you should be going for:

Healing - increases your heals. Scroll down to see how it affects your healing
Magic Critical Rate (MCR) - increases the chances of your heals to wow people
Magic Critical Damage (MCD) - increases the amount of wow your heals can do from time to time
Cast Speed (CS) - lets you reuse skills sooner
HP - everyone needs this
Defense - decreases the damage taken from physical attacks
Elemental Resists - decreases the damage taken from elemental attacks

Gears:

This is just basic information.

These may not be the best way to build your healer, these are just tips.

Weapon:

I'm not really a fan of Rods, I'd only use them if I plan on getting it to +10 for the healing bonus, else I'd go with a dropped staff.
I'm not a fan of Orange weapons either, I think half of the stats they give are irrelevant or could be better. Getting a good orange weapon is easier than getting a good dropped one though

Bonuses from Rods and Staves
Rod Staff
Damage 100% 137.5%
+5 Parry Rate +5% WIS
+8 SPR MCR
+10 HP and Healing HP and Combo Rate + 3%

My ideal weapon for a pure healer:
  1. +10:Rod, else: Staff with:
  2. - SPR     - Cast Speed
  3. - AGI     - Healing
  4. - LUK     - Magic Critical Rate

Set Mixing:

Maximizing your heals from your armor:
-3 Pieces Dgn Healing - 1 Set
-2 Pieces PvP Healing Set

High heals with crit resist:
-3 Pieces PvP Healing Set
-2 Pieces PvP Healing Set of the lower level

Crit healing with crit resist:
-3 Pieces PvP Healing Set
-2 Pieces PvP DPS Set

Classes:

There are 2 healing classes in Spirit Tales, the Shaman and the Sorcerer (08/08/12).

Shamans can later on advance to either Sage or Mystic, while Sorcerers can advance to either a Medium or Witch.

I want to be straight to the point yet I also want people who haven't chosen a class yet or those who are in doubt to really think about what they would really prefer since I think Sages, Mystics, and Mediums make good healers and that they work differently, so I'm going to provide a table to compare the pros and cons for these three! Sorry, I don't think Witches should ever be healers, but they should still learn Renewal and Breath of Life though.

Nevermind! Like I said, they work differently, I can't really compare them!

BASICALLY

Sage:
Pros:
- HUGE heals likesrslygetout
- Easy purify (Purifying Petals)
- Good self buff (Refined: Healing Wave)
- Good party buffs (Refined: Healing Wind and Ancestral Spirit Power)
Cons:
- Generic
- No revive

Mystic:
Pros:
- Make good hybirds
- Easy purify (Purifying Petals)
- Survivability (knockbacks, slows, Teleport & Recharge)
Cons:
- Takes more effort healing compared to sages
- No revive
- Selfish buffs (Refined: Totem)
- Stats and Skills lean towards being a DPS (which, in my opinion, should be taken advantage of in order to be a good healer compared to the other two classes)

Mediums:
Pros:
- Can either be DPS or Healer
- Can revive (Breath of Life)
- Hard to kill in PvP (Fire Shield)
- Can remove Fire Shield!!! (Refined: Frostbite)
Cons:
- Hard purify (Refined: Renewal)
- They usually have to focus on being either just 'DPS with heals' or 'Healer'

This section is highly arguable.

Formulas:

We'll be using my noob mystic's stats for samples. (+5 gears, no stat gems, incomplete accessories, neglected passives, toyed skill tree)
Sample Stats:

General format:
  1. Formula

  2. Sample-A: Stat Representation

  3. Sample-B: Heal Amount Using Lv.9 Healing Wave
Copy the Code
Normal Heal:
This is how much healers would normally heal for assuming the target has "100% + 0" passive healing and there are no other buffs or debuffs that affects healing.
  1. Normal_Heal:
  2. ( Healing% * SkillHeal ) + Healing

  3. Sample-A Normal_Heal:
  4. 129% + 1111

  5. Sample-B Normal_Heal:
  6. ( 1.29 * 637 ) + 1111
  7. = 1932.72
Copy the Code
Critical Heal:
This is how much a healer would heal for when the healer does critical heals. Critical heals are heals that are boosted up to MCritDmg% of the normal healing amount MCritRate% of the time.
  1. Critical_Heal:
  2. Normal_Heal * MCritDmg%

  3. Sample-A Critical_Heal:
  4. ( 129% + 1111 ) * 2.16
  5. = 278.64% + 2399.76

  6. Sample-B Critical_Heal:
  7. 1932.72 * 2.16
  8. = 4174.6968
Copy the Code
Average Heal:
This formula is mostly for healers going for the crit-healing build to compare themselves against pure-healers.
  1. Average_Heal:
  2. [ ( 1 - MCritRate ) * Normal_Heal ] + [ MCritRate * Critical_Heal ]

  3. Sample-A Average_Heal:
  4. [ ( 1 - 0.2299 ) * ( 129% + 1111) ] + [ 0.2299 * ( 278.64% + 2399.76 ) ]
  5. = [ 99.3429% + 855.581 ] + [ 64.0593% + 551.705 ]
  6. = 163.402% + 1407.29

  7. Sample-B Average_Heal:
  8. [ ( 1 - 0.2299 ) * 1932.72 ] + [ 0.2299 * 4174.6968 ]
  9. = 2448.15
Copy the Code
Actual Heal:
Actual amount of normal heal that you do on a target. The Passive Healing (PHealing) is based off of the target's stats.
  1. Actual_Heal:
  2. ( PHealing% * Normal_Heal ) + PHealing

  3. Sample Actual_Heal:
  4. ( 1.11 * 1932.72 ) + 0
  5. = 2145.32
Copy the Code
Actual Critical Heal:
Actual amount of critical heal that you do on a target. The Passive Healing (PHealing) is based off of the target's stats.
  1. Actual_Critical_Heal:
  2. ( PHealing% * Critical_Heal ) + PHealing

  3. Sample Actual_Critical_Heal:
  4. ( 1.11 * 4174.6968 ) + 0
  5. = 4633.91
Copy the Code
Average Actual Heal:
Average actual amount of heals that you do on a target. The Passive Healing (PHealing) is based off of the target's stats.
  1. Average_Actual_Heal:
  2. ( PHealing% * Average_Heal ) + PHealing

  3. Sample Average_Actual_Heal:
  4. ( 1.11 * 2448.15 ) + 0
  5. = 2717.45

Sorcerer is the Same.

But Renewal is excluded, since it is not affected by any +Healing, +PvHeal or Spirit.

Invigorate is affected by the Healing formula (but only the Base Heal, the "Heal over Time" isn't affected)

so........ it's not worth making medium at all? since you'll heal only 1k per second and a shaman will heal 6k per second?

What? Where did you get that from?

Mediums can heal almost as well as sage (with the right build...). Invigorate is spammable with enough cast speed (50~60%). Renewal can be compared to Rain since rain has long cd and Shield upgrade for huge burst heal if you fall behind sage's healing power.

The only thing that mediums do significantly worse than sages in terms of support is remove debuff. 20% remove debuff per attack taken from refined renewal really isn't much compared to 100% from sages's petal
