You exceeded the limit of points on Guard and you shouldn't put points on the Expertise skills yet since they're yet to be released

Forest Guards should get Liberated Power instead of Fierce Tiger Combo. Guarding Power's damage becomes relatively low on higher levels. Muscle Ninjutsu is really good if you're planning to do Equipment Promotion. The boosts from the Fury tree is really low, I recommend completely dropping it.

Are you planning to do PvP? Are you already a Forest Guard? If you're saying no to both, I recommend going for a tank dps Hunting Soul

Not yet no, I'm still working on my JC quest xD. Whenever I play a game I always balance my skills for PvE and PvP, is there any such skill build here in STO? Can you also show me your skill build for it and skill build for the tank dps hunting soul?

You could go with this build.

Attacks:
Guard Blast - Ranged, spammable attack. It does decent damage with upgraded weapons. This will be your main damage dealer.
Spirit Hare Hurl - AoE attack that reduces damage taken. Your secondary attack when handling mobs or strong enemies.
Liberated Power - AoE attack that deals damage around your character. Damage dealt is a bit lower than Guard Blast but the AoE range is better.
Mountain God's Anger - Ranged attack that immobilizes the enemy then slows them down. Good for kiting.

Buffs:
God Hunt Illusion - Makes you strong and tough. Used to break armors.
Spirit Turtle Resistance - Reduces enemies' defenses and increases Guard Blast damage by 20% (92% with Mastery: Guard Blast). Also restores some HP when hit my critical hit
Forest Divine - Probably the best buff in the game. Not even going to explain

Passives:
Muscle Ninjutsu - Increases Strength which increases your attack and your parry.
Break Boundary - Assuming you're going for the High-defense DPS set, your crit rate should go over 35%, and you'll probably have this thing on all the time.
Anger Improvement - Increases your critical damage.
Fast Flying Power - If you want to move faster. Personal preference
Halberd Skill / Boxing Expert - Polearms allow you to deal more damage with your skills and makes you tougher with the parry bonus. Gloves allow you to deal damage faster, allowing you to proc more often.
Vigorous + Mastery + Specialty - HP bonus is awesome.
Mastery: Guard Blast - Allows guard blast to deal a secondary hit which deals 60% of the first hit's damage.
Sacred Tree Ceremony - More HP bonus!

Interesting, if that's actually the bonus of guard blast mastery, it can actually achieve higher 'base' DPS than any combo Soul Hunting can pull off.

By base I mean, before any procs, such as Hunting Eagle's combo, Spirit Turtle's def reduction or the presumably higher crit rate of Soul Hunting. (I've Calculated it to about base 60% including Fire Phoenix on a dedicated build... excluding Equipment Promotion)

Oops, sorry. Bad math! It's 92%, not 116% XD

Aaaand Hunting Souls have a 155% bonus with Fierce Tiger Combo

Fierce Tiger's triple hit should only be +75%
and it requires about 50% aspd to make it spammable.

No it's not. I've done some tests and the damage output resulted in:
Primary: 100%
Secondary: 85%
Tertiary: 70%

While Fierce Tiger Combo may not be spammable without intentionally building up stats to reduce its cooldown, don't forget that the Hunting Soul can use other skills in between cooldowns

You could go with this build.

Attacks:

Good build, although I would remove two points from the side passive, and three points from the moves peed passive in order to put them in the +% defense proc.

@Hareball
I like some of the ideas I'm seeing here. I'm thinking about respecing and turning what I originally had (https://dl.dropboxusercontent.co ... b33b5f555d51c155iae) into something like this: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.co ... b5f555d51c155b5h2c6

A few questions...
How bad does guarding power get at higher levels? I don't think I'm high enough level to understand the Guarding Power + Turtle Resistance < Liberated Power argument.
What are your thoughts on Maple Flavor? I personally don't care too much for PvP but for PvE I would imagine it's worth the investment. If anything I wish it was a percent, not a set number.

Problem with Guarding Power is that it doesn't scale with your character's stats. Bonus damage is always going to be somewhere around 5k in PvE and 500 in PvP. For PvE I guess that isn't terrible for now if you don't have highly enhanced gears. But do consider the fact that the level cap is raising in 1-2 months and that 5k damage isn't.

Maple Flavor is okay for PvE, but remember that you can only use 10 skill points on advanced skills

This changes things. I wasn't aware of the 10 point cap on skill points in the advanced section.

With what I've learned in mind I'll switch it to this. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.co ... 3b5d5b555d5d154j4c6 (Don't judge me, I've secretly always wanted to invest points into Fast Flying Power )

It was a toss up between Fast Flying power or pumping the extra 7 points into Liberated Power. I don't really care for the Sacred Tree Ceremony, I'm content with the amount of HP I have. I've never been in a situation where I've felt like I don't have enough HP to survive a situation. Although Guard Blast is an AOE I don't really use it as such so the Mastery passive for that can go too. I'm addicted to Maple Flavor, I don't think I'll get rid of that until it slaps me in the face.

If you're not getting Mastery: Guard Blast, you might as well leave Guard Blast at Lv1.

If you haven't changed into a Forest Guard yet, and you're more interested in mobbing + AoE, you might want to consider changing to Hunting Soul instead.

I'm already a FG. I wouldn't really classify my playstyle as mobbing/AOE but I do find myself playing that role from time to time.

As far as Guarding blast goes that's something I considered as well. But I spam it enough that I think its worth investing some points into. I may take a few points away from it and pump them into Liberated Power, but I don't have any intention on throwing guarding blast away entirely.

Basically what Hare is saying that the sole purpose of going Forest Guard is for Guard Blast. Not getting it or having it a low level is basically a waste of class and points. You have more than enough points to max Guard Blast and get the refined version.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7035293 ... b5d5b555d51c153j1c6

Liberated Power barely changes as it levels up. The attack difference is around 400 - 500, which is no more than 2 - 4% of your attack once maxed out (and later on, even less). I suggest you move these to Guard Blast and get the refined skill, just as I have done in the build above. I would also strongly suggest you remove Fast Flying Power, as movement speed is relatively easy to gain now. Battle mounts, merge pets, other buffs etc. etc. etc. all add up to your movement speed. Now that I look at it, you NEED to get rid of it. Level 5 Break Boundary is essential for any good Forest Guard, regardless of their build. I would also recommend removing points from the side passives in order to get Fearless to level 5 as well. If you want, though, you can keep those two points in the side passives and remove points from Guard Blast instead, or just leave Fearless at level 3.

Final build:

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/7035293 ... c3b5f553d51c153j1c6

Although, I really want to remove Maple Flavour [ugh, yuck, splutter---] and get 3% dodge rate and 6% HP [that dodge is direct - 5% - 8%, 77% - 80%, not 10% + 3% = 10.3%], but since you insist on it you may leave it.
