Optimum Stats for Each Slot
I'll attempt to list my idea of the optimum stat that you can get from each slot. This of course very much depends on what gear and skills you have available to you as some choices work well only if you have the right skills, while other sets can be good regardless. I'm also unsure if I have all the available choices for each slot (e.g. Gloves you are very very limited in what stats you can get, even moreso since both Precision and Strike rely upon the associated ability). My conclusions here are based upon level 100 heroes, as my main duelling hero (and the one whose equipment I have messed with the most) is a level 100 non-epic.
Helm
Insight or Reborn
Hit is a useful stat that does do a good deal to reduce dodging by the enemy and is difficult to gain in other slots, especially if you do not have Precision. The othero ption is to opt for a bonus to Restore. Restore is far superior to Heal, and at level 100, a +7 bonus to Restore on a helm (obtained from the Arena) makes it perfectly viable. Against the majority of enemies you can Restore in one term more damage than they can deal to you (minus potentially crits). Obviously those with seriously good equipment will still be able to damage you greater than you are able to heal.
Helm is the best place to pick up a Reborn item, as your other options sacrifice Attack (Weapon) or Armour (Chest). As for other options, Luna gives you less hit than Insight and needs Precision equipped and Heal is inferior to Restore in my eyes.
Chest
Earth or Heaven
Without a doubt Earth is the best you can get for Chest slots. Armour is just too important to pass off, not much can beat a direct reduction of the damage you take Life from Heaven might be better if you've got high level (+7 and above) gear, as armour does lose value rather exponentially (You start to need more and more points for another % mitigation) and also works well with Restore which is based off your total health. It's certainly a viable alternative. Reborn is best got elsewhere, Block is good enough as it is and Ironskin is horrible.
Breastmirror
Earth or Heaven
Again, same reasons as above really, you get very little choice here. Ironskin is terrible and Block can do without boosting.
Footwear
Earth
As usual, get all the armour you can. No option of life here, only pretty naff and unpredictable skills or the lackluster Agility. I'm not a big fan of the in combat skills, Beserk is a random skill giving you a random stat (Crit), yipee. Cunning dosen't seem to give you enough of a dodge boost to be useful and I'd always take the straight up armour. Courage is probably the most useful of the three, but doesn't boost your attack by that much.
Gloves
Falcon
Some agility is worthwhile and seemingly most players don't bother with too much. You can get a foot in before those who take Flame gloves which can be useful. Your other options are limited (Although I'm fairly sure i'm missing several options for gloves) and tend to rely on skills (Strike/Precision) you may not have room for. And avoid Haste, it's terrible.
Weapons
Wolf
Plenty of choice here, only one real contender. Go for the extra attack all the way. I'm not a big fan of nor have I tested many of the offensive skills and boosting them in favour of extra attack seems like a complete waste of time in my eyes. Grab the biggest Wolf weapon you can and keep it.
Mounts
Tide or Ruthless
I'd avoid the Falcon mounts really, agility is too rubbish to bother really. As for your choice here, it's between Offense (Counter) or Defesne (Block). Both skills should be in your arsenal really so either mount is good. It's a pity I've never seen more than a grey quality mount that boosts either though. I still think the +4 agility/+4 block/counter elephants beat the Falcon Bloodsweat Horse though.
Skills
I'd take Block and Counter with any hero then (As I currently use) Restore combined with a Reborn helm or any one of Precision, Strike or Heroic depending upon what items you have and what level your skills are.
At the end of the day, it's all down to personal preference. Experiment and see what skill sets work best with what equipment choices. These are the combinations that have worked best for me, but obviously need to be adapted to your own circumstances.
Important Factors in Duels
Nicked this from another thread I wrote it on, just a few points on the importance of different stats in duels. Changed my mind a bit since on a few of these, so might edit it eventually.
From my experience the deciding factors are as follows: (In preferential order)
1. Level difference - for the most part if participants are about 10 levels apart the higher will almost always win. (Offset by extremely good gear). This is magnified when level 100s are involved. A difference of 3/4 levels here can be decisive.
2. Attack and to a lesser extent armour values - the reason the Wolf weapons are so powerful. The ability to directly increase the damage you deal and reduce the damage you take are massive. Simple.
3. Skill choice - Passive skills all benefit the user, low level skills or the in combat stat raisers will be detrimental. Even some higher level skills are useless as they need gear to be improved, filling up slots that could be filled with armour or more useful stats. In short go for Block, Counter then one of Precision, Strike or Heroic. If you have the right gear others can be better, but it depends.
4. Other stats - dodge, hit, critical, agility. Effects are difficult to measure and often fluctuate wildly. Of these I'd say dodge and hit are the most important, but you will pick up others naturally through gear. |
