Attacting and Defense
I. All kinds of soldiers can be divided into Attacting or Defense no matter in Wei, Shu or Wu. Infantry and Cavalry attact together is a good choice. The difference between Attacting and Defense is that different waves of attacting a city will have effect solely, while the defence city as a whole. That is Defence have an advantage over attacting. But the attacting is flexible, you can also take advantage of it.

II. Attacting and Defense soldiers in Wei, Shu, Wu.

Attacting soldiers in Wei: Guardsman & Cavalry Archer, Qing Cavalry when rich in resourse.
Attacting soldiers in Shu: Militia & Imperial Guard, Repeating Crossbowman when rich in resourse.
Attacting soldiers in Wu: Shield Infantry & Female Cavalry, Legendary Archer hen rich in resourse.

Defense soldiers in Wei: Swordsman & Heavy Infantry.
Defense soldiers in Shu: Pikeman & Lancer.
Defense soldiers in Wu: Spearman is good, with Heavy Cavalry & Bodyguard Cavalry will better.

III. When Archer in tower, their defense power is the same with attact and 800 soldiers in tower at most. Not too much is better.

IV. Secret Warehouse also helps in Defense. More resourse means more soldiers and better condition in defense and attacting.

The tower has a capacity limit.You can see it in the Building Guide.

It's good to find out that the defense points for archers in the tower equals to their attack Archers and Longbow are my favorites

Yes, you just click on the city that was attacked; and at the bottom right hand corner there are some numbers in green.  Click on those numbers to see when you were attacked.

For III., there's a hint from the Counsellor in game that say like this:

"When your archer is in the Tower, its attack=defense vs inf.=defense vs cav. Horse Archers can not enter the Tower. The fortified army must be taken out of the tower before deployed for attacks."

So, it's not purely their atk becomes their def. But, when archer in tower, it becomes like this:
Atk (archer-type) = def vs inf unit
Def (archer-type) = def vs cav unit

I'm a Wu player, and i'd like to contribute my appraisal on Wu's units.

1. Spearman
Is a cheap defensive unit, but mediocre. In a battle between 10 Spearmen vs 10 Wei's Light Cavalry, I lost 8 and the opponent only lost 2. (I defended behind a lvl 1 Wall). Thus, in my opinion, Spearman is a unit to be used in defending in number. If you have 500 Spearmen behind a lvl 10 wall, it will take more than 200 Light Cavalry to win the attack. And 200 Light Cavalry is very, very expensive to produce, compared to 500 Spearmen.

2. Shield Infantry
Again a moderately priced unit. Good for attack, but not on its own. If you try attacking with Shield Infantry, attack in number, and with Cavalry support.

3. Female Cavalry
A rather pricey unit for its moderate attack. Female Cavalry will not survive Barricades. So I almost exclusively use FC to raid black lanterns (inactive cities, i believe that's the term) or in support of SI when attacking active cities, here even not as the sole support. Mind you, it's the fastest unit in the game, so raiding with FE gives you a great boost in resources.

4. Heavy Cavalry
Priced at nearly the same rate as FE, but with greater survivability BOTH in attack and defense. Anti-infantry unit, so i use this one extensively in support of an attack, especially when the defender has a lot of infantry.

5. Guard Cavalry
A pricey unit. Meant as an anti-cavalry unit but I have yet to meet an opponent with a strong cavalry detachment. For defense, Barricades serve a better purpose, I think, for they are a lot cheaper than GC.

6. Scout
Well, Scout is Scout. If you want to attack somebody who is an apparently active player, scout him first. And scout in number, 40+ is a good number to use in scouting.

7. Archer
A good support unit when attacking, but no use defending if not put in Towers. Archers dies easily if attacked, especially with Cavalry. But, in Towers, they are very strong.

8. Legendary Archer
A buffed up version of Archer, but very expensive. I have never taken them out of Towers, even when I'm attacking. In towers, they are nigh invincible.

One more thing when defending, stock up defensive implements in your wall. Max out the rolling logs, stones, barricades and traps. With 100 traps in place, a hundred of the attacking infantry units will be immobilized and won't be participating in the attack. With a full complement of Barricades, at least twenty percent of the attacking cavalry will be destroyed, well before they can attack your units. (I don't really know the percentage, that was the highest I ever encountered). And I think a lvl 10 wall is mandatory. Don't expect to survive an attack with less.

So, IMHO, attacking in TKO follows the same principle laid out by the great Sun Tzu thousands of year ago: never lay a siege unless you have a force thrice the number of the defending side. I always take this advice seriously and only attack with at least 5 times the number of the defender, in Destroy mode. When the city is deprived of defense, only then will I move in to plunder. Overkill? Maybe. Just want to minimize the loss, that's all. The greater your advantage when attacking, the smaller the loss, that's what I found out.
In war, victory. In peace, vigilance. In death, sacrifice.

i was attacked from the same city and same person on and on....i am a Wei player, this makes me cannot build enough army to make any defensive. Any idea how to escape from this condition?

I want to calculate the attacking and defensing points before beginning of the battle.
I'm sending both inf. and cav. units, how can I calculate the defensive points of the defender, (each unit has 2 def. points, one for inf and the other for cav)

can you help me? please?
