Defending Spellcaster

Full spellcasters don't have very good defense, and Hua Tuo can only heal so much. Without good defense, spellcasters don't have a very good chance of surviving.

How about a Spellcaster that casts a spell similar to Chao Gai's Guardian Spirit gambit, except with chance to fail?

I never said they were weak. They can deal damage, but they can't take too many hits which makes their survival a lot more difficult.

Oh, and this spellcaster can only succeed on other spellcasters. On any other unit (gambit or siege) it will fail 100%.

If you are looking for more spellcaster, i think all general are default because the dev in china program it and create it this way. So you only can look out for stronger caster.

spell caster can tank..just need enchant max everything and totem....but lbw and minmin is a must for tanking coz of their high str,the rest is up to you

Yes, there are stronger casters, but they're "weaker" than the other generals (Siege and Gambit) based on stats and recruit cost.

Example: Liu Bowen vs Qi Jiguang and Zhu Yuanzhang. All 3 from Ming Dynasty, but Liu Bowen (probably because encountered first) has weaker stats, and a lower recruit cost. Minmin Temur vs Khubilai Khan and Genghis Khan. All 3 from Mongolian Empire, and again. Mage gets lowest in stats and recruit cost. And, again in Song Dynasty with Wen Tianxian vs Yue Fei and Zhao Kuangyin.

Spell can win, sure. However, they have lower stats and recruit costs than Siege and Gambit (of the same stage, since they're usually the first Boss encountered), so maybe they can get a general that benefits only them? Or, put some stronger Spell at the end of a stage so they can have better stats and recruit costs than Siege and Gambit?

Spell CAN tank, but only to an extent. It really shows if you have maxed, or almost maxed defense while opponent hasn't yet maxed attack, and you have your Hua Tuo healing you.

Liu Bowen and Minmin Temur's strength are both kinda low (compared to the Siege and Gambit that people use). 85 and 88 Strength respectively. Against the commonly used Siege and Gambit generals at that point (when you can recruit Liu Bowen and Minmin Temur), they either have higher Strength, have high Bravery (and mostly no Spell general can really tank a strong Gambit), or a combination of both.

There are only two "qualified tanking Spell" whom are, Zhuge Liang and Zhou Yu. However, these two are Kingdom specific. Wei cannot get either, while Shu and Wu only get one or the other.

I use full Spell, and I know they can win. I also know they can tank, but only against those without maxed weapons and horses. I'm saying they should have a little something extra to boost their defenses, so they can survive attacks strong Normal and Gambit attacks.

A strong Xiahou Dun can 1HKO any Spellcaster. Except possibly a Zhou Yu with maxed Bravery, a purple cloak, and him not severely damaged.

somehow i have to agree wit you, mages are way too under power compare to gambit
we take example of the battle reports section in forum, there tons of lvl 80/97 can clear up to tpl/kcl/even ming/jin wit 101 with gambit builds but so far havent see much of mage build doing tat

and abt the br i post if he use hx instead of xhy there no way i can win him and tat br show 1 thing, there tons of gambit player compare to mage user tat y he dare just to use tat kind of build

if 8x str  caster you don't like..wait till you reach those higher lv campaign you'll cry even more if not for lbw and minmin for tanking  when u playing full spell

If you playing full spell as you speak,i guess you notice playing them need enchant almost everything and of coz lv max their totems.

I'm not agree mages under power if you see those vip guy againts each other when they enchant max all their stuff...if u dont believe why dont you go vip9 get the reduce jade option enchant and enchant all int to max ,up few totem to max and hit those other vip

Just that playing full spell is harder and slow cook,endure it and feel the pain ;p

wat if gambit max everything like caster? (enchant+enchance wit max trios stats)
u think a gambit team (gy/gk) wit 3xx int still will feel the pain?(if both are vip10 and espcially if the gambit bring a HT too)

gambit/siege nvr will miss on caster but caster need throw dice and take shower often ;p

what if?..why dont u combo with doom bringer or thorn weaver if u had one of them or 5 spell damage ;p

Use Hua tuo, Poet + doombringer. With this ppl can hardly kill u.

I'd just want VIP... 3? Maybe it was 4... just to refresh missions to get purple books (I'd possibly even settle with red).

Because your gambit attacks have Strength and Defense and can tank both Siege and Gambit. Spell have LOW Bravery, and decent Strength at best.

Campaign needs a well rounded set of different generals to pass. I agree though. Even with my high Intelligence, my generals takes quite a bit from other Spell.
