Chronicles of Merlin Game Guide

I. Game Interface
1. City
The city is your main base of power. Buildings are upgraded here, Silver is earned here, and Heroes are trained here. With development of the city, you'll earn much more silver, train your Heroes with more efficiency, and keep your weapons honed.
There are a number of different buildings available, each of which provides critical bonus functions. For example, residences will increase your tax revenue, while the Tower of Trials can increase both the amount of experience gained by heroes in training and your max hero level. Upgrading the city hall will increase the city level and allow you to move to higher level districts for access to powerful new game features. A competitive player will always have a well-maintained City to keep their edge in battle.

2. Region
Players move between different level regions as they progress through the game, gradually increasing options for interacting between players as they become more skilled. Silver Mines (taking up the first few districts of each Region) are regionally restricted, so you’ll only compete with other players in your Region for these precious resources. At higher levels, you can also attack or be attacked by players in your Region. Players of other Kingdoms can only attack players in Regions with the same level restrictions as their own, preventing high level players from attacking players in lower level Regions.

3. Campaign
Fight against an array of historical Heroes and their sub-commanders as you progress through various Chapters in the Campaign. Each time you defeat the final Boss of a Chapter, you will unlock access to the next Chapter on your journey. You’ll face an enemy alliance at the end of each Chapter, so you’ll need to join an alliance in help complete the Chapter and receive your completion bonus. At high levels, members of the most powerful alliance will enjoy numerous bonuses and rule the world with an iron fist. Earn battle points and priceless gear as you battle your way through Merlin’s devious alternate history.

4. World
In the world map, each icon represents a different Region. You can view and invade other regions, invest in or trade within your own Kingdom’s regions, or move your city to a new Region. You can even rally your Kingdom to fight a Regional Battle and expand your Kingdom.

5. Farm
Each district within a region has its own farm interface. Farms produce grain, which is critical for recruiting reserve units and keeping your army in fighting order. After level 15, you will need to replace all units lost in battle, a daunting and expensive task if you’re unable to secure a source of grain. There are farms of varying output, each of which can be occupied for 4 hours. The competition here is much less intense than that for Silver Mines, which are shared by the entire Region. Seize the highest output farms in the middle any time you see them available!

II. Basic Operations
1. Collect Taxes
Tax collection is your most basic means of earning Silver. Select your City Hall, click on “Taxes” and then click “Collect” to obtain Silver. Taxes can be collected 12 times per day usually,  and 3 more times in summer.

2. Training
To make your Heroes more powerful, continued training is the most important! Enter the Tower of Trial and start training. Choose Heroes you want to train from the list located on the left, and choose the training mode. Then click Start Session to begin.

3. Campaign
This is one of the key components of the game and allows you to fight against historical forces. Only when you have defeated the relevant forces can you move your City to a higher Region in order to continue leveling up. To access the Campaign, click on the “Campaign” button on the bottom right-hand corner of the Game Interface, select an enemy army and click on “Attack”. Blue squares are normal units, yellow squares are elite units and red squares are Bosses.

4. Chat and Mail
A. Chat
The Chat system in Chronicles of Merlin allows players to talk to other players. Player Chat is divided into – Private, World, Kingdom, Region, Current, Alliance Channels. Different Chat Channels also have different player requirements World Chat is available at Level 10, and costs 2 Gold per message; Kingdom Chat is only available to players with the Top 100 Prestige in their Kingdoms. There is also a short waiting time before you can send another message.

B. Mail System
Chronicles of Merlin's Mail system allows you to communicate with other players and receive updates about events in the game. It is also a way for us to communicate with you and send you prizes for competing in events. The system is divided into 3 categories –System, Players and Reports. The Mail system also allows you to view your Battle Reports and messages can be saved or deleted.

5. Farms
Each district within a Region has its own Farm interface. The competition here is much less intense than that for Silver Mines, which are shared by the entire Region. There are farms of varying output, each of which can be occupied for around 4 hours. Grain is critical for recruiting reserve units and keeping your army full. Seize the highest output Farms in the middle any time you see them available!
The number displayed to the right of the farm output is the output boost received from the Alliance Crop Rotation Research.
Abandoning a farm before the session has ended will reduce the amount of Grain harvested.
Farms will be automatically abandoned when you move your city to a new region.

Each day counts as one season, each season has some special rules:
A.Spring – One additional Banner gained
B. Summer – Tax Collection limit by 3, to 15 totally.
C. Autumn – Farm Output +20%
D. Winter – No player-vs.-player combat allowed! This includes Conquer, Invasion, and seizing Farms and Silver Mines.
Each season refresh at 05:00 (Server Time)

3. Heroes
Recruiting Heroes
If you want to make a name for yourself in Chronicles of Merlin you must recruit a pool of talented Heroes to fight on your side. Heroes that you defeat in the Campaign can be recruited in the Recruit menu. Each Hero has different stats, unit types and special abilities so make sure you pick the ones best suited to your playing style.
When you recruited a hero, don't forget to add him in your army by selecting a formation and add him in, then, set the formation as default.

Change Heroes
If you want to change a hero, you can remove him from the formation or dismiss him if you want. Dismissed heroes can be recruited again.
Turn out your best Heroes
There are many kinds of Heroes in Chronicles of Merlin. Players can obtain them from different Chapters, and then choose to join Caesar, King Arthur, and Charlemagne. After clear Baldwin IV of Jerusalem. Each kingdom has its exclusive Heroes, and players can obtain them by increasing Prestige. The more Prestige you have, the better Heroes you can recruit.

Enlighten
Hero's basic stats:
Bravery: Increase normal attack and defense
Tactics: Increase gambit attack and defense
Magic: Increase spell attack and defense
Players can enlighten the Heroes they have recruited. There are many ways to enlighten Heroes for all players. Different levels of VIP features provide more and mightier ways to meet different player's demands. Enlightenment can reinforce Heroes' basic stats and battle skills.

Regular Mode: consuming Battle Points, can increase Hero’s stats a little
Advanced Mode: increase Hero’s stats to some level
Royal Mode: increase Hero’s stats till a high level
Divine Mode: increase Hero’s stats until a very high level

Training in Tower of Trails
Under Tower of Trails interface, players can add extra training slots for more heroes by gold. Players can also level up Heroes idly in different training modes. Heroes can be leveled up continuously after VIP membership is activated. The higher your VIP level is, the longer your training time is, which really helps the players who have few time in game.

The most important is that Heroes can be engaged in battles during training. Players can click "Add Exp" to shorten the training time, which will cost Battle Points.

4. Research
Research plays a crucial role in Chronicles of Merlin as it increases the combat capability of your entire army. Research is carried out at your Academy so make sure to level it up to unlock additional Research types and to increase the maximum level of your Research. A combination of advanced Research and enhanced Gear is a winning formula against any enemy.

5. Quests
Completing Main Quests and Daily Quests are essential for maintaining a fresh supply of Silver and Battle Points respectively. Main Quests will familiarize you with the various interfaces and features of Chronicles of Merlin. In order to undertake more advanced Quests you must first complete the basic ones.

Daily Quests become available at Level 40, and each day you can only complete six of them. The more difficult the Quests, the more Battle points you will collect. You can refresh the list of Daily Quests for 10 Gold to try and get Quests with bigger rewards. You can also use 10 Gold to complete any Daily Quest instantly.

6. Battle Formations
When fighting against an enemy, the formations used by both sides will play a crucial role in the outcome of the battle. Chronicles of Merlin provides 8 Battle Formations for you to employ with each formation having its own unique strengths and weaknesses. Your Heroes may be placed anywhere within a formation so makes sure you place him in a position that makes best use of his assets.
Each time you fight a battle you use 1 Banner. You also recover 1 Banner each hour. There is a set Cool Down (CD) period after each battle during which you cannot fight another battle. Special Banners (i.e. Mine, Subjugate, Farm, Attack, and Campaign at the top of your screen) are refilled every day at 08.30, 12.30 and 19.00. When you upgrade your City Hall you will receive an additional Banner. Banners may also be purchased using Gold once the player reached VIP 4 or above. Banner Cooldown: Similar to Building Cooldown in that its duration will increase as the player fights more battles. All Cooldown times are reset every day at 05.00.

7. Conquer
After you armed your armies, got awesome gears, it is time to show your power. Deploy your well-trained troops to fight with other players to get Subjects. If you are successful in defeating one player, then this player will become your Subject. Every time when you collecting taxes, your subject will be forced to give you tax. Subject is also an important resource of Silver.

8. Alliance
In Chronicles of Merlin, Alliances are a way of allowing players to cooperate with each other in the game.

Donations
A player’s Post within an Alliance is determined by how much he/she donates to the Alliance. Silver payments, tax contributions, upgrading the Alliance’s Emblem and participating in Alliance Battles all count as donations.

Alliance Research
Alliance members can contribute to Alliance Research by donating Silver. The benefits of the Research can be enjoyed by all Alliance Members. As an Alliance’s level increases so too will the number of available Research.

Alliance Post
A member’s Post within an Alliance is determined by how much he/she donates. Members may recruit new applicants once they have reached a certain Post. However, only Alliance Commanders have the power to dismiss members or appoint a new Commander.

Alliance Emblem
An Alliance’s position on the Alliances list is determined by the level of its Emblem. Higher level Emblems look grander and will allow the Alliance to be seen by potential members without having to click through dozens of pages of other Alliances. Emblems can only be upgraded using Gold.

Alliance Battles
Alliance Battles occur between the Alliances of opposing Kingdoms and vie for control of special Alliance Farms. Alliance Battles can only be initiated by Alliance Commanders and occur every evening, allowing for 20 minutes of team planning beforehand. Each Alliance is limited to 50 participants with the battle beginning once the countdown is initiated.

Overview of Alliance Battle
Group Assembling
Alliance battle is the battle over plantation. Only the commander can launch an alliance battle before 07:00 P.M. (Server Time). Every night, the engaged Alliances have 20 minutes to assemble alliance members. There is a callout box of Alliance Battle in city view. Click it to check the assembling time or enter the battle view. Note that the new members could only join the Alliance battle two days after the initiation. In alliance battle, the member limit for each Alliance is 50. The battle starts when the countdown is over. The gamers engaged in the battle can achieve 5 winning streaks at the most. The Alliance members that join the battle can be rewarded with bountiful Alliance contribution.

Boost and Draft
In Alliance battles, gamers can boost their troops with battle points or Gold. Boost might fail at certain odds, but once it succeeds, Hit or Shield will be increased. Note that the more bonuses, the lower the success rate of boost. You can also draft soldiers before the battle begins.

Alliance Plantation Harvest
The winning Alliance can harvest from the plantation, 5 times every day. The Grains harvested can be double at certain odds. The Grains production of plantation is refreshed at 05:00 a.m. (server time). The occupation of plantation will end automatically in winter. Alliances have to launch another battle to seize it. Now take your bravest heroes and join the Alliance battle! Don’t worry about being outnumbered as the number of soldiers is not everything when it comes to winning a Alliance battle.

Alliance Farms
Winners of Alliance Battles may collect Grain from the Alliance Farms as shown on the World Map. Grain may be collected 6 times a day with a chance of collecting double the standard amount each time. Alliance Farms are automatically abandoned in winter and will need to be retaken through Alliance Battles.

Battle Boosts
During the team planning period before the beginning of a Alliance Battle, players may use either Battle Points or Gold (VIP 5 or Above) to activate Battle Boosts. If successfully activated, Battle Boosts can raise your attack and defense ratings. Once you have successfully boosted your stats 5 times you have a chance of obtaining a unique skill. The chances of a Battle Boost being successful decreases as your stats are boosted higher.

IV. Notoriety System
When you are attacked by another player from an enemy Kingdom their Notoriety will increase in relation to you. If you then retaliate against this hostile player you will receive bonus Prestige.

The same thing occurs when a player from an enemy Kingdom attacks players from your Kingdom or an allied Kingdom. This system promotes the beginning of feuds and concentrated attacks on particularly notorious players. Chronicles of Merlin will automatically decide the allegiances of the three Kingdoms in the game depending on the combined strength of the players in each Kingdom. This allows two weaker Kingdoms to take on a much stronger Kingdom in an epic David and Goliath style grudge match!

Player Notoriety Player Notoriety is color-coded in the same way as Gear. The more a player attacks you and your allies, the higher his Notoriety. Attacking a player with higher Notoriety will give you more Prestige but it’s very likely that your opponent will be stronger and harder to defeat! The amount of Prestige you gain is also determined by the level of your target. Red——Enemy of the State Orange——Most Wanted Purple——Wanted Blue——Hostile Green——Unfriendly White——Neutral Gray — Harmless, Friendly, No threat

Chronicles of Merlin is designed according to the real history and life, and conflicts exist among Kingdoms, Alliances and players. But Alliances and players will unite for the Kingdoms ' glories and benefits, especially Region Invasion.

Move
Move is useful in game, and players will move to the Regions where there are many fertile farms, prolific mines and weak opponents. Alliances and Plays usually move to new Regions in autumn (players can't fight in winter) to increase Prestige and the rate of Regions possession, which will be stated later.

Investment
Investment in Regions increases Prestige, especially when Regions' Prosperity is low. Because cost of Investment will be high in high level Regions.
The Regions' stats can reflect whether players from same Kingdoms unite, because Investment can also increase the Region possession.

Invasion
Limited Regions mean limited resources. You cities will be attacked, and your farms and Mines will be robbed if the Regions which you are in are occupied by another Kingdom’s players. The more regions one kingdom has, the more powerful it is.
The rate of Region possession reflects the Hero situation of one Kingdom in the Region, which can be increased by Move, Investment, and attacking another Kingdom’s players. And Regional Battle can be initiated by the players who have moved in the Region to increase their possession.

V. Region Battle
By the time you can take part in region battle, you must have been through loads of battles. You fight NPCs or gamers from other factions. You fight by yourself or with your Alliance members. To you, region battle is a new form of battle and the most exciting one too.
What is Region Battle?

In the regions of other kingdoms, the names of gamers show up in different colors. These colors represent their Hostility level. You can defeat these opponent gamers to acquire Prestige. The more gamers you defeat, the higher your Hostility level.
Hostility level =Number of successful attack – Number of being defeated.

Hostility level: Red——Enemy of the State Orange——Most Wanted Purple——Wanted Blue——Hostile Green——Unfriendly White——Neutral Gray — Harmless, Friendly, No threat

Only gamers with yellow names or above can launch a region battle.

If you want to join the region battle between Region A and Region B, you should relocate in advance. Your destination must be the region of your kingdom. Only after the relocation cool down is over can you fight the region battle for A or B. Note that there is no region battle for political center.
There is a callout box of Region Battle in city view. Just click it to enter the battle view.

In region battle, the member limit for each side is 50. The battle starts when the countdown is over. The gamers engaged in the battle can achieve 4 winning streaks at the most.

What does Region Battle Bring?
You can earn Prestige in region battle. There will be more Prestige for you if the level of your opponents is higher than yours. In Chronicles of Merlin, Prestige decides your title, your salary, and more importantly, the heroes you can retain. And region battle is the most effective way to gain more Prestige. You don't want to miss it!

Furthermore, you can occupy the region of other kingdoms in region battle. You can check Kingdom’s Occupation Rate (abbr. as KOR from now on) of a region. If the KOR is higher than other 2 kingdoms, it means this region belongs to your kingdom. There are three ways to raise the KOR of a region: attacking opponent gamers in this region, investing in this area and most importantly, winning region battles. However, if the KOR of this region gets lower, it may mean it has been occupied by another kingdom. But if you occupy a region from another kingdom, you can make good use of the resources like Grains and Silver.

VI. Trade
1. Q : When you will be able to trade?
A : Once you have level 41 city hall, you will have a new building in your city: Caravan Post. And then you can trade with other players of your kingdom.

2. Q : How to make a trading?
A : Go to the region interface and find a player you want to trade with. Click on the Caravan button to send your caravan. If the player accepts it, the trading will be completed and you will get profit from the trade.

3. Q : How to know how many caravans you can accept?
A : Enter to the Caravan post, then you can see the number of caravans you are allowed to receive and the caravans you have already received.

4. Q : How to send more caravans?
A : With higher level of Caravan post, you can send more caravans to have more trade. The number of caravans is refreshed once per day and at the time when you upgrade the caravan post.

5. Q : How to get more profit on trading?
A : When you have level 45 city hall, you will have a new building in your city: Custom House. By upgrading your Custom House, you can increase the income of trading.

6. Q : How a player can complete trading with me without my approval?
A : There are two possibilities: he is your Overlord, then he can force you to accept trading; or he has used the « Force Trade » function (VIP function).

VII. Unit and Hero
Chronicles of Merlin is known for epic PvP Battles with 100 players and 500 Heroes fighting simultaneously. What's more, players can share their most memorable experiences via Battle Reports.

Unite Type
Below are basic introduction for all of the unit types. You can use this information to create a potent army with some killer combos.
Infantry Series: Have the special ability of Blocking

Cavalry Series: Have the special ability of Dodging

Archer Series: Won't be hurt after their damage is blocked, and have increased Critical Strike rates

Machinery Series: No Morale or Gambit, but have outstanding Normal attack and defense

Magic Series: Damage given depends on their leading Hero’s Intelligence. They have no normal attack and a high chance of missing.

Auxiliary series: No damage, but can give buff or heal.

Certain unit types will counteract one another, unless one is stronger than the other. The potential for infinite strategizing is what makes Chronicles of Merlin a great game! Hope this introduction helps you on your path to building a powerful army!

Way to increase your units' level:
- By upgrading your Hero's level, each level up of Hero will increase his army's level by 0.6
- Use Rebirth for your Hero, see Rebirth for details.

Kingdoms and Heroes
In Chronicles of Merlin players are divided into three competing Kingdoms:Caesar, King Arthur, and Charlemagne. After you defeat the Baldwin IV of Jerusalem Chapter in the Campaign you must pledge your loyalty to one of the three Kings. Once you have made your choice there is no possibility of changing your allegiance. Alliances are also made up of members within the same Kingdom.

Title
Your Title is determined by your Prestige. The more Prestige you have the higher your Title will be. Your Title will also give you a fixed Salary which you may collect once a day. Upgrading your Title will also allow you to recruit more Heroes and increase the number of Farms that you can occupy.

Prestige
Increase your Prestige by attacking enemy players, participating in Region Battles or investing in your Region. You can invest in your Region once every 3 hours which also increases the Region’s Prosperity.

Rebirth
All Heroes can rebirth after reaching level 51. Rebirth will reset a Hero to level 1, but the base unit level will be increased. As the base unit level increases, the Hero level required for Rebirth will also increase. There is no limit to the amount of times you can reincarnate, but the level requirement may rise beyond the current max level in the game.

Way to Train Heroes Faster : Add Exp
When you train your heroes in Tower of Trials, you can find Add Exp buttons which can increase a vast amount of heroes' experience in a short time if clicked. The amount of experience increased is the same by applying gold or battle points.

I looked through what little of hero lists i could find and this version of Dovo's code has been a bit more customized than DS and Batheo (mythology theme version).

Both ds and batheo have a strafe type attack but by the list i looked at i cant really tell if this version does. I know you cant start out with a strafe type unit here at least.
