cant learn a scroll

i got the required scroll to learn level 4 demon chill for zhang fei but it keeps saying  insufficient experience how do get around that?

your zhang fei needs more exp (it requires exp and scroll), so either give him books (if hes under lvl 50) or send him to cave or send him to battle....

i think lvl 4 needs 200k i am not sure but it is around there.
